Area Information:

The History

Founded in 1769 as Les Petites Cotes
("The Little Hills") on the banks of the Missouri River, Saint Charles has served as a hub for explorers and pioneers for much of its history.

Saint Charles  is a great place to shop for antiques and novelty items, dine and relax. Lovingly restored, Saint Charles will transport you back to the days of riverboats and "prairie schooners," of riflemen and pioneers.

With dozens of historical attractions, festivals and unique shops, visitors return to Saint Charles again and again to sample its small town charm and one-of-a-kind attractions.
